Jennifer Heinen, MS, RDN, LDN
Hello! I am a dietitian nutritionist based out of Cambridge, MA. I am passionate about helping my clients cultivate a healthy relationship with food, and feel well with each meal. My specialties include eating disorders and disordered eating, Intuitive Eating, nutrition for digestive health, food allergies and intolerances, women’s health, perinatal nutrition, and food parenting.
I practice through a Health at Every Size® lens, and take a holistic approach – exploring how food intersects with other aspects of your life – while providing guidance based on the latest scientific evidence.
I help my clients reach their individualized nutrition goals, such as breaking free from the diet mentality, recovering from an eating disorder, improving gastrointestinal symptoms, or having a healthy pregnancy. For clients with IBS, I can guide you through a low-FODMAP eating plan – the first evidence-based nutrition therapy for irritable bowel syndrome - while minimizing the need for excessive restriction. I also have training in other therapeutic models that I interweave with my nutrition counseling, such as Internal Family Systems and Clinical Hypnosis.
My interest in nutrition began with my love for cooking and evolved from my desire to improve my own health. I received my Master’s from Boston University and earned a certificate of training in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In the past I have worked in the hospital inpatient and outpatient setting, corporate wellness, and community nutrition. I have taught undergraduate nutrition at UMass Lowell, and provided counseling to university students at The Boston Conservatory and Boston College. I served on the board of the Massachusetts Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for 5 years, and have been awarded Emerging Dietetic Leader by MAND in 2018, as well as Preceptor of the Year Award by Simmons College in 2019.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, reading, or walking with my dog.
Now that you know all about me, let me know how I can help you! I look forward to guiding you on your journey toward a well-nourished life!
